The last time I visited my grandparents, I went through their closets in search of vintage pieces to mix with my causal minimal style. I found this gem. This is my Great Aunt Edna’s fox fur coat. Pointed shoulders, braided rope collar, hidden clasp buttons, burgundy silk lined and a piece of a yellowed newspaper in the pocket. Perhaps a clue to who she was. This was no doubt a treasured piece in her wardrobe worn to church, special occasions and the night clubs. I imagine Harlem Nights. Just classy.

Yes, its real. PETA don't come for me.

Continuing with the vintage theme, I paired her coat with a brown and gold tipped bangle I found in a jewelry box that belongs to my Mom and new vintage gold handled Gucci purse from my Aunt Denise. When you see me in this outfit, you see all the strong black women in my family.

Making this outfit my own, I styled everything with over the knee boots, army green skirt and a simple black top. I’ve successfully mixed old school with new school and I'm certainly on trend as faux fur and OTK boots are everything winter twenty-sixteen.

I'm wearing: Vintage Fox Fur Coat. ASOS Tank Top. JCPenny skirt. Nine West Boots. Gucci Bag. Michael Kors Watch. Vintage Cuff.
