TRAVEL DIARY: MADE IN MEXICO
Whenever I think of picturesque tropical luxury resort, my mind always goes to the exotic getaways I see on Instagram that are in faraway lands like Marrakesh, Phuket or Bali. You know, those once in a lifetime, I saved for 3 years kinda trips. But never did I guess that Cancun, the vacation spot I’ve been going to since high school, had its own luxurious oasis.
I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Myleik Teele, My Taught You Retreat that was held at the beautiful Nizuc Resort and Spa, literally 15 minutes from the Cancun International airport. The theme for this conference was limitless living which took the concept of making life-altering connections, achieving clarity of goals, and taking time to reset yourself amongst like-minded winners in a luxurious environment. I’ve planned plenty of trips to Cancun and the hotel zone was my go to and this place would miss my radar because of price, a la carte food packages, and imaginary obstacles I placed on yourself. First to mind for me is unnecessary spending or non-deserving indulgence and imposter syndrome. Now having experienced this resort, I know that Nizuc, the best supporting actor to this event, made this conference far more memorable than any other conference I’ve been to because I briefly lived in my dream lifestyle which really stimulated actionable ideas, steps and processes for me to reach my goals and dream bigger.
I had to give this Nizuc Resort its own blog post because that place was magical and I feel like I found myself and my purpose in Mexico. Let’s get into this place.
A C C O M O D A T I O N S
There are luxury hotels and then there are five star, 4 diamond resorts like the glimpses of places you see on Diddy’s insta stories. This luxury resort – managed by Las Brisas – is the stuff of dreams. From the time my Lincoln navigator pulled up to the compound gates, I was immediately impressed. Luscious greens surround every driveway and path. The lobby is nothing but breath taking as floor to ceiling wooden shudder give you peaks of the water garden that seems to stretch seamlessly to the oceanfront horizon. Bleached rock walls, earth tone woods and black slate make this rustic-luxe an influencers dream photoshoot location at every turn. 6 restaurants, 3 bars, 3 infinity pools, cabanas, butler service, shuttle, a world renowned spa, everything about this place is grand and by no mistake.
I opted for a roommate for my accommodations and even in a shared space, there was plenty of living space so we never felt like we were all up on each other. The balconly that overlooked the lagoon and ocean and the bathroom agreeably were our favorite features. The bathroom with a double sliding door, ottoman, soaking tub and tv, spa style shower, double vanity with tons of counterspace so we could spread our makeup across every day was a page straight off my dream board.

I called this place the Chick-Fil-A of customer service. No matter how outlandish your order is or however many dipping sauces you ask for, they will always say, “my pleasure.” Same thing here. Anytime I passed a Nizuc member, a genuine hand over the heart and a salutation was to follow. It didn’t matter if I were on the back of a golf cart, leaving the bathroom, piling my plate at breakfast or walking to the beach, that was their resort culture and it made me feel good and welcomed. I’ve been to elite events and have eaten at fine dining restaurants, but there were certainly ‘pinch me’ and ‘I deserve this’ moments I experienced because of the level of 24-7 catering I received over my 3 night stay. Anytime I sat down for food, my chair was pulled and the napkin placed in my lap. Each suite building is assigned a butler who was there for anything you needed, just name it, an extra pillow, a ride to the beach, a diner suggestion, whatever. Every time we left the room, our room was serviced and our belongings organized, I’m talking flat lay worthy, complete with evening turn-down and a sweet treat to eat. If this is how the 1% lives, sign me up!

Although I didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the free water sports available like snorkeling kayaks, zayaks, paddle boards or jet skis, those are all available. I didn’t see or hear many kids, but there is a kids club called Wink’s where you can drop the kids off to play and they even have their own private pool.
F O O D
The dining experience during this conference was certainly one for the books. Although our food was catered majority of the event, I did experience 3 of the 6 different restaurants which span from contemporary Mexican, Asian, Italian, Peruvian and everything in-between. The breakfast buffet at Café De La Playa was everything. I customized my omelet and had a side of nachos and guac. What?! It was delicious! You could literally make nachos and tacos with the spread of meats, salsas and toppings available - all fresh might I add. The freshly squeezed juice bar and coffee is something I still think about every time I sit down to breakfast.
If you follow Myliek you’ve seen her grill up a whole octopus for a salad. Clutches pearls. So, being in the spirit of walking in Myliek’s shoes, I sought out Terra Nostra, the Italian restaurant and promptly ordered the octopus appetizer. Grilled, garnished and tightly coiled on the plate it arrived to my table and my waiter cut and plated my portion. I closed my eyes and took a bite and to my surprise it tasted a little like chicken with the texture of a scallop. Yea, I know everything ain’t chicken but that’s the closest protein it tasted like and I was validated by Luvvie whom I shared my caravan with on the departure ride to the airport, so boom! Did I go back for seconds, nope! But I crossed it off my bucket list. I did however have the wood oven pizza which was AMAZING!
Finally La Punta Grille Lounge is where I did a lot of my dinning because it’s the restaurant that provides food on the beach. One time, a few of the sister friends I met on the trip literally ordered the entire left side of the menu and had business on beach after one of the sessions. We order all the tacos, shrimp ceviche, chips and guac, fries, chicken wings, sliders, quesadillas, cheese sticks, margaritas – the whole nine. It. Was. Delicious!

I made time and visited the spa which immediately created serenity even before the treatments begin. I couldn't take many pictures in there for privacy reasons but know that it's gorgeous and sets the mood. You’re encourage to arrive an hour early so that you can do the Nizuc thermal experience which is guided hydrotherapy circuit which featured Aromatic Steam Room, Invigorating Showers, Sauna, Ice Room, Vitality Pool, Cold Plunge Pool, Thermic Loungers, coed Exterior Pool, and a Relaxation Lounge complete with snacks like that freshly squeezed juice I talked about earlier and house made cookies, fresh and dry fruits and organic tea. I got my entire life in the 2 hours I spent at the spa and would say this is a must do when you come here. It's right across from their state of the art gym.
