HOW TO SOAK UP THE LAST MONTH OF SUMMER
1. Long days
I truly appreciate the longer days because it seems like I get a lot more done. There's something about driving to and from work in the dark that makes me lethargic and unmotivated.
2. End of summer sales
I love to stretch the penny so the end of summer sales are great for picking up pieces for next year and also that mid winter tropical vacation you'll take. Stock up on basics that can be layered and transition in your fall wardrobe.
3. Eat all the seasonable fruit and veggies
You need to get it in now because once that cold front sneaks in you can forget the best tasting tomatoes, corn, melons, berries, cherries and limes!
4. Festivals and outdoor concerts
With just a few more outdoor events on the docket like Afro Punk Fest, a couple food truck events here in DC and New York Fashion Week in September. After that, get ready for standing in the cold and seat warmers in the car.
5. Moisturized hair
Because there is so much moisture in the summer air you can forget maintaining stretched styles, or any style for that matter. It's both good and bad. It's good because you can maintain a little moisture in the hair without too much effort but on the other hand, if you're like me, you'll loose any definition you spent all night installing for it to instantly morph into a fro as soon as you step outside. I look forward to winter months because I can maintain stretched styles a lot longer.
6. Outdoor activities
Clearly you can forget the pool and beach once it gets cool. Take advantage now and visit the outdoor farmers markets and sunflower fields, have a bbq, and evening strolls without a jacket.
Even though I can't wait for fall, yaassss, I know once it gets cold i'll be crying for warmer days again. T minus 30 days until fall!
