CONCERT T + RIPPED JEANS
It’s concert season. When I tell you that I’m an avid concert goer – believe me. I literally work concerts into my monthly budget. It’s that serious. My first concert ever was Michael Jackson when I lived in Hawaii in my ARMY brat days and I was hooked. The performance, the theatrics, the live music, the crowd energy – the whole experience – it’s everything! After that, I saw Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Earth Wind and Fire, Beyonce, Jay Z & Kanye, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Beyonce and Jay Z, Jay Z & Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Erykah Badu… the list goes on and on. Can you tell I love Beyonce?! #beyhive
Above all the else, the outfit is just as important as your seats when you go to concerts. In true Ondia J. fashion I have to be comfortable especially at concerts - I have to be able to move and dance! Wearing these tattered Gap boyfriend jeans, held up with a red belt and my now vintage Kanye Yeezus tour concert T, I have achieved the optimal I-don’t-care-what-you-think grunge look. I dig it. Draping the burgundy leather moto jacket over my shoulders or around my waist really sets off this peace love and rock and roll vibe. Finally, perched on my favorite abstract wooden heel t-strap sandals adds a touch a fem to this ensemble because any other shoe you’ll be ready to give me your spare change.
Let’s talk about the hair while we’re at it. it really sells the whole look aside from all the attitude I’m serving. I’m wearing Latched and Hooked Mckenzie collection hair. The quickest, most easy protective styling I’ve done in a while. This was this hair’s last hoorah as we approached its 6th week installed. Yes honey, all types of growth is happening under there!
I’m wearing: LATCHED AND HOOKED Crochet Hair | GAP Sunglasses | YEEZUS Concert T | VINTAGE Belt | GAP Jeans | LUCKY BRAND Shoes

#BTS BEHIND THE SCENES
Fun little story about when Jendayi (photographer) and I shot this look.
We shot in the ever changing gentrified North East, DC. This was my final outfit change (in the car) and I wanted a white wall as the backdrop because I call myself having a color theme on IG and it’s easiest keeping consistent with neutral backgrounds. In my mind I wanted the old Love Night Club. So Jendayi and I make our way to the club and there were just too many loitering guys around. I can’t. She can’t. We won’t! We shan’t be uncomfortable while we shoot! And safety first. So plan b. We head to where we parked and we spot this old loading dock and what looked like a kidnapper van in the lot. We decide to just make it work because it had a white wall after all. As where crossing the lot we notice another car behind the kidnapper van. So we’re walkin’ and peepin’ and lo and behold was a light grey old school Ford Ranchero! Queue the heavenly music and spotlight! We pick up the pace because we both know that this is it! We get to the car, which clearly someone is hiding and working on it but it’s in pristine condition, and we’re both like, “YAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!” Me being me, I pull on the door handle and it OPENS! Yes God!
Needless to say we were all up and through that car for this shoot. There’s something magical that happens when you’re confident in your outfit and the background unexpectedly syncs up and then Jendayi catches all the angles. It was so hard for me to pick out my images from this shoot. I will definitely be getting a book made of all my shoots so that I can show my future kids that mama has that sauce!
