WHAT I WORE TO CURLFEST 2017
I struggled to find an outfit for CURLFEST. I already knew that it was going to be a lot of crop tops, maxi dresses and poom poom shorts - had I stuck to my workout plan in the winter I would've been comfortable wearing any of those now, but I didn't so I won't. Sigh. So the week before I'm tearing up my closet looking for something festive and can't find anything that fit or cute enough in the sea of black, grey and olive green clothes that are now piles on the floor. I scoured the internet looking for a cute dress. UO, ASOS, Lou & Grey, Gap, H&M, Zara you name it I clicked and couldn't find anything. Finally went to Mango and found this shift dress. It was ok, not really what I had in mind, gave me conservative mom vibes, but it was colorful so boom, bought it and it was 50% off. Yes God!
I knew I needed to be hands free because I was going to be snapping pics with my canon 70D, video with the Sony a600 and then my phone for instastories. It's too much but that's the life of a blogger. Insert FJALLENRAVEN. First saw it on L&T and then again at UO. It's really pricey for a child's size backpack, $80 but the color's they come in got me. Sold.
Now for the shoe game. It was between Vans or Chuck Taylors which I ended up going with neither and just wore my favorite slides this summer, the Adidas Originals Adilette slides. That pop of the black and white stripes was that little bit of interest this outfit needed.
Finally, hair and makeup. I kept it all the way simple because it's the middle of summer in New York. I did wand curls on a blow out that I kept in pin curls until I left for Prospect Park. I knew it would swell and get huge by the end of the day, which it did and was fabulous! I kept the makeup minimal because I sweat a lot. like, a lot a lot. So just did my brows, mascara, highlight on the cheekbones, a red lip and sunglasses.
May not be a knockout festival outfit but it's still kinda cute. Don't be surprised if this dressed again later in the fall.
So, what do you think?
